Our students & schools

One-to-One Aiducation

Sponsoring a Child - For only a little bit of money, you can make a big difference in the life of a child in Africa. He or she will be able to afford school fees, receive food in school, and a safe place to learn.

Participating in our program is not only rewarding for our African students but also our members. You receive your own student to keep in touch with through “snail mail”. (Most villages are without electricity and running water – so email is not an available). You will receive insight into the everyday life of third world countries. Despite our vast differences in lifestyle, you will see that we are very much similar. We value the same things, love, happiness, family and friends. We cherish a smile and love to laugh.

One of AiDucatius’ biggest and most important projects is the schools in Nzega district in Tanzania.

Tanzania is located in eastern Africa about 500 kilometers south of the equator. The Nzega district has a population approximately of 410,000. Nzega school district consists of 154 primary schools, sex secondary schools, 1500 teachers and one Teachers college. This district is responsible for educating approximately 45,000 children and teenagers.

Students start in Primary School at the age of seven and continue until the age of fourteen. Unfortunately after this schooling, only 5 % of students are able to proceed to Secondary School. This is a four year school and requires schools fee. Most Tanzanian teenagers and their families cannot afford to pay these fees.

The money received from one sponsor covers enrollment fees, national testing and report cards for a student in form 2 and 4. In 2004, the Tanzanian government decided to reduce its school fees by fifty percent. Despite the decrease in fees, many families are still unable to pay for school. Reduced funds makes it even more difficult for schools to teach students as they do not have enough resources for books and wages for teachers.

Our students and schools are very thankful for our help. We give them the opportunity to study, improve their English, and the ability to provide for their families in the future.
